FORUM Archive & Web Viewer

Carl Zeiss has been very busy behind the scenes focussing on how to simplify and improve the networking and integration of our whole product portfolio. We are pleased to announce that this development has culminated in the release of FORUM, our new archive and review solution.

FORUM is foremost an archive designed to contain ALL raw data and reports. This means all diagnostic data is not only safely backed up to network but also available for immediate review.

FORUM additionally delivers excellent workflow benefits with its ability to integrate with existing Electronic Medical Records (EMR) provider for receiving patient demographics. Patients can then be scheduled for a scan on multiple instruments utilising only one patient entry. Once the scans are performed, the images and reports are sent back to a single patient file within FORUM for immediate review and diagnosis, allowing no possibility for technician error. Any instrument can be connected with all of the above functionality so long as they comply to the DICOM standard. FORUM also allows for the storage of any generic JPEG, TIFF, BITMAP or PDF document enabling integration of any image or report.

FORUM, whilst software, is actually a medical device and registered with the TGA and MedSafe. Why? For two reasons: first, the viewer delivers all diagnostic data to one’s screen as was intended on the device, thus enabling diagnosis; and second, datasets inside FORUM will be utilised in the future to provide compounded analysis or additional information to improve both workflow and patient outcomes. For example, a glaucoma report which includes perimetry and OCT/GDx data or the uploading of diagnostic data (e.g. IOLMaster for lens recalculation) to the operating theatre are eventual possibilities. Of course, intra-operative images, videos and reports could also be archived in Forum.

Centre to design specification was the need for accessing data “when you need it” and “where you need it.” To address this, FORUM has been designed on web based platform, which allows immediate review and diagnosis via the web on both Windows and MacIntosh PC’s.

FORUM is scalable. It can be configured to fit most any practice or institution and is available at a very low entry cost. Straightforward access and support fees include all remote support and upgrades as newer versions are released.

The official launch of FORUM locally will occur at this year’s RANZCO conference. A special Connectivity Seminar will be held on Monday, November 16th, and our whole booth will be connected to showcase this exciting new product. Places are limited for this seminar so make sure you register online as soon as possible to reserve your seat.
