Interested in increasing your surgical microscope diagnostic and repair skills? Then the Carl Zeiss Surgical Microscope Training Course for Biomedical Engineers may be just what you’re looking for. Designed specifically for our remotely located customers, the aim of the course is to provide engineers with the necessary skills to independently perform first line maintenance and diagnostics on a range of newer ZEISS microscopes.
“We designed the course to better support our remotely located customers with the goal of minimising instrument downtime. By providing the engineers with the knowledge and resources to perform higher level service on our microscopes, we hope to build a stronger sense of partnership with the engineers. We rely on them daily to help keep surgery going and it makes sense to invest in their development in order to allow them as much engagement as they’re comfortable with,” said Carl Zeiss Service Manager, Dale Brimicombe.
Conducted in the Carl Zeiss head office in Sydney, biomedical engineers are provided extensive theoretical and practical training on the care of optics, fault identification and preventative maintenance. A variety of popular, current surgical microscopes are disassembled to teach participants how to perform basic common repairs. Participants have the opportunity to discuss their hospitals’ microscopes and specific problems with a qualified Carl Zeiss technician and are provided with technical manuals, access to online service and job updates, and presented with graduation certificates.

As graduates of the course, the engineers will continue to receive applications training, be invited to attend any in-service conducted by members of the sales team and remain in close contact with Carl Zeiss technicians and sales team members.
“At the end of the day, we like to think that the graduates will feel a part of our service team”, said Dale Brimicombe.
